Since 1861, the Dispensaire Français has supported French speakers in the United Kingdom facing difficult situations. These may be linked to the language barrier, access to healthcare, housing difficulties, financial hardship or isolation.

Our team welcomes, listens to and guides French speakers in difficulty. It offers them personalised support to guide them towards the solutions best suited to their needs.

## Our services

- **Guidance and information**: access to your rights, how the British healthcare system (NHS) works, and the steps to access housing.
- **Psychological support**: compassionate listening and support in French.
- **Support in emergency situations**: we welcome and assess your situation in order to direct you towards the services best suited to your needs. Where possible, practical support may also be offered to help with immediate difficulties (travel, essential needs, accommodation).

## Partnership with Notre Dame des Réfugiés

In 2023, the Dispensaire Français established a partnership with Notre Dame des Réfugiés, under the auspices of the Consulate General of France in London, to provide medical support to French-speaking refugees and asylum seekers.

A monthly medical clinic held within the church itself is run by Dr Odile de Mesmay (a GP at Cromwell Hospital and a volunteer at the Dispensaire since 2021) and Dylan Matar (a nurse at the Dispensaire since January 2025). This initiative allows the most vulnerable refugees to receive free care and advice directly in central London, saving them a journey to Hammersmith.
